Out and about on the trails in Salzburgerland
Whether you prefer gliding classic style in the tracks or skating at speed on the flat, there are approx. 160 km of double groomed trails through the region, especially around the Hotel Stegerbräu. There are beautiful trails through the valleys which are ideal for beginners or the more challenging trails heading up in to the hills for those with more experience and nerve. These trails take you through the winter landscapes of Salzburgerland and away from the ski pistes. In Radstadt you can set off on the 50 km long Tauern Trail. but naturally you do not have to all of it! This trail offers something for every taste: easy to undulating, diverse scenery, for every fitness level and technique. What is really special, is that this trail connects the six towns in the region (Altenmarkt, Radstadt, Untertauern, Eben, Flachau und Wagrain). Choose a circular tour and you can start from any of the towns involved. There are also rustic huts and restaurants on the way that invite you in for a rest.
Cross-Country Skiing for fun around Radstadt & on the higher trails
One of the favourite trails from Radstadt is the beautiful and scenic Taurach Trail that takes you up to Untertauern. This is mainly a gentle climb, following the Taurach river, to the deer park in Untertauern. If you are looking for something less demanding, then take a trip to Mandling on the forest trails along the Enns river. If you want to try cross-country skiing in the evening then the 2km long Kaswurm floodlit trail in Radstadt is ideal.

A beneficial northwest aspect and at 1,350 m above sealevel makes the trails at Gnadenalm some of the most snowsure trails in the Alps.
The 20 km of trails, groomed in classic and skating style offer a diverse range to choose from through this charming scenery. There is also a biathlon shooting gallery integrated in to the trail.
Just in case, there are also snow-making facilities to guarantee enough of the white stuff. Even with all this on offer, the trails at the Gnadenalm are still free to use. When you need a rest, take a break and refuel at the Gnadenalm hut with a delicious selection of food on the menu.
The High Alpine Trail on the Rossbrand is now even longer: 16 km of corss country skiing pleasure, absolutely snowsure and the best place for panoramic views out over the mountains including Niedere and Hohe Tauern, Großglockner, Sonnblick, Großvenediger, Hochkönig, Gosaukamm, Bischofsmütze, Dachstein Massif and the surrounding valleys. You start in Filzmoos (approx. 20 km from Radstadt ) and take the Pagageno lift up to 1,600 m above sea level, you then cruise gently upwards for about 7 km past the telephone tower and the Radstadt Hut on the serpentine trail to the highest point at the summit cross, the best viewpoint, before having a break in the tiny Kar hut just below then have an exciting descent back to the lift. If you wish, you can then do the second shorter circuit.
The trails are groomed for classic and skating style. This high altitude trail is also suitable for winter hikers. A ticket up and down on the Pagageno lift costs approx. € 12,50 per adult and € 6.50 per child or you can use your ski amadé lift pass.
